It's Finally Summer!!

I had the pleasure of going to Rowlett last night and hanging out Angela when she got off work! I got to see her great family, and play some Mario Kart with her brother! We had a lovely dinner and saw the “sights” of Garland.
[I really liked this pew for some reason. It's just cute.]

[We didn't actually go in to PawPaw's Sweet Shop and Cafe, but it was cute so we took pictures by it. It was closed, even though it was only like 6.30, what is this Arkansas?? :)]

And we ended the night with some amazing coffee at the cutest little coffee shop in Garland! This place was so quaint and such a “homey” feel. They had games on some of the tables, so Angela and I played checkers with a chess set. It was a bit tricky, but way fun! I smoked her, but in her defense she hasn’t played since she was like five, and my PaPaw loves checkers, so we play all the time. It was still fun!
As we were leaving, we decided to take some car pictures…they’re all posed, but these are the results. :)

[It took us a minute or so to figure out the camera situation]

[haha the air conditioner was on full blast in Angela's car, so it made my hair go crazy! I love this picture!! Angela really isn't a bad driver, despite how it seems in this picture.]

Fun fun night!

Pre-Wedding Cake Adventures

So I’m making a wedding cake in a few days for one of my friends. It’s a little unreal that I’m actually making a wedding cake. Wedding cake. That’s a HUGE deal! Anyway, I decided to make a cake today so that I could practice a little. It’s been a while since I’ve made a cake, so I wanted to get in a little practice and make sure I could still ice a cake. I also wanted to get some ideas for Renee's cake. I took some pictures as I went. It’s not the prettiest cake, but it served its purpose. Here’s a few of the pictures…

[All the ingredients!...well most of them anyway.]

[my mess]

[The result..it did some weird thing with the top. I think it was the off brand cake mix. Luckily it will be turned upside down]
[The iced cake]

[So Renee wants butterflies on her cake. There's many different ways that I could do this, and I thought that the easiest was to use Royal Icing and outline them. Royal Icing is simply powdered sugar and water. It dries really hard, like candy. I tried to outline some butterfly wings, but I made it too thin and it was just drippy and turned into blobs. I wanted to see what it would do to the cake, so that's the purpose of the zigzag on the cake. Looks a little silly, to me. But I learned from it. I'm not sure if I'll use Royal Icing for the real wedding cake; I'll have to think on it.]

Stay tuned for the result of my crazy idea that I'm making a wedding cake!

Mario Kart!!

So this was our study break...they might have been long study breaks in some occasions, but Angela and I got very good at playing Mario Kart! We got a little competitive as well, but had tons of fun! It was a nice time to not think and have fun when the stress of finals was overbearing! These pictures are all pretty much staged, but I think they are super fun and show a pretty accurate depiction of what went on during the games. :)

[We Won!! ..ok so Angela won this one! but we got better. when we started, we were both in 11th and 12th and by the end of the week we were both in the top 5 most of the time! :) soo fun!]

Oh Spanish and Common Sense!

It's amazing how God can take a crazy situation and turn it around for His good! There are so many examples of this in my life, but the one that stands out clearly to me today has to do with my Spanish test. I love the language of Spanish!! Learning it and being able to understand it has been a wonderful journey, on which I have just begun and have a long way to go! I had a break down last night over my test and felt way under-prepared and like I was looking at gibberish. Needless to say, it was not the most fun night. I went to bed tired and frustrated, determined to get up early and conquer the material on my Spanish test. I reviewed for a few minutes before my test and immediately I felt that I knew what I was looking at. Well, I show up to the test room a little before 8 a.m. (which is different from our usual classroom) and no one's in there. I start out being a little confused, but decide to walk around our building, Lile, a little more to find others trying to stay logical about all this. Luckily I find the lady giving the test in a classroom right as she's passing out a test to her students. I was beyond confused so I ask her if this is where she's giving the test, and she tells me it's not until 11. Now I'm beyond confusion, and I was a little embarrassed because the entire class of people I don't know is looking at me like I'm stupid for reading the schedule wrong! It was a mess. Luckily, the lady lets me take the test early. This was where God worked it for His good! I'm not saying that He was the one who had me read the schedule wrong or show up to class three hours early, but after my mistake, God took that and made it positive. It gave me the rest of the day to be productive and to sit at His feet. What a great God I serve! This is a little example, and probably not the best, of how God is at work and alive and active!
Today's picture, in honor of my Spanish class finally being over, is in front of Lile-my home away from home! :)

I don't have any tests tomorrow, so we'll see what crazy picture we can come up with!

Finals...Round One

Today, I have decided to explain a little about finals. They are not fun! However, they allow for plenty of time to study (of course!) and hang out with friends!! Aubrey and I, for Project 30, took a photoshoot of campus. Today's exam, for me, was in my Christian Counseling class. I am beyond thrilled that this class is over, although I have found that I will use the stuff I've learned in the future. It just wasn't the best class I've ever had, if you catch my drift.
I decided that today's picture would be in front of Berry Bible Building (say that three times fast!), or the chapel as it turns out, for several reasons. I have had several classes in Berry and they have stretched me and challenged and helped me so much in my growth as a Christian. I have learned so much from the amazing professors that teach and do life with us in Berry. This building is a nice, calm place to come into for class because it's so laid back! This is also where I took my test this morning (a little to the right and one story up from where we're sitting, actually), and I figured it would be a fitting Tales post. :)
Enjoy!

[Oh, and P.S. The highlight of my day was definitely playing Mario Cart with Angela!!]

My son, do not forget my teaching, but keep my commands in your heart.
I give you sound learning, so do not forsake my teaching.

The Catch Up...

I haven't blogged on here in a while. I suppose that is because I don't really know what to blog about. Except I'm not sure that's entirely true...There are plenty I want to blog about, it's just taking the time to sit down and blog. I have sat down and started this post many times, but nothing flows, so I'm starting again. It helps that it's bright and sunny out-that always seems to make words flow better. Since it's the first of May, I think I'm going to start fresh and catch you up with my life...or at least pictures from life-or April.

Since my last post:

*I've enjoyed being 20 for a few weeks!
[These pictures are from the great surprise parties that I was given-by my roommates and my youth/mom at church]

*Studying with Angela at the Train Park was a definite Favorite! We were productive, had wonderful ice cream, and had lots of fun! (not to mention some really fun pictures!)

*Did a little of what I love: Hanging out with some middle schoolers, loving these girls, and sharing Jesus with them.

*This past week has been a wonderful of spending quality time with my Savior. I took a few pictures while I was down by the gazebo. :)

[see the heart the tree leaves made?]

*My roommate, Aubrey, had a flute concert this week, and her lovely family came in. Angela and I went to support her. It was nice to see Aubrey's family and get to know them better!

*Finally, last night two of my roommates and I faced Taco Tico. What a fun time we had together! We don't hang out nearly enough, and we live together!

*There are so many more things that I have done and that God has been doing in my life, I just don't have the ability to put them into words. View more of my fun month here.

Finals week is approaching, and the excitement of this semester coming to an end. It's weird to think that I'm almost half-way done with college.
I'm excited to see what God has in store for me this week, and this summer!
