Things Spoken Lately

"Lamb says somewhere that if, of three friends (A, B, and C), A should die, then B loses not only A but “A’s part in C,” while C loses not only A but “A’s part in B.” In each of my friends there is something that only some other friend can fully bring out. By myself I am not large enough to call the whole man into activity; I want other lights than my own to show all his facets. Now that Charles is dead, I shall never again see Ronald’s reaction to a specifically Caroline joke. Far from having more of Ronald, having him “to myself” now that Charles is away, I have less of Ronald. Hence true Friendship is the least jealous of loves. Two friends delight to be joined by a third, and three by a fourth, if only the newcomer is qualified to become a real friend. They can then say, as the blessed souls say in Dante, “Here comes one who will augment our loves.” For in this love “to divide is not to take away.” Of course the scarcity of kindred souls – not to mention practical considerations about the size of rooms and the audibility of voices – set limits to the enlargement of the circle; but within those limits we possess each friend not less but more as the number of those with whom we share him increases. In this, Friendship exhibits a glorious “nearness by resemblance” to Heaven itself where the very multitude of the blessed (which no man can number) increases the fruition which each has of God. For every soul, seeing Him in her own way, doubtless communicates that unique vision to all the rest. That, says an old author, is why the Seraphim in Isaiah’s vision are crying “Holy, Holy, Holy” to one another (Isaiah VI, 3) The more we thus share the Heavenly Bread between us, the more we shall all have.” - C.S. Lewis, The Four Loves

This was read at Refuge tonight, and it really spoke to me. I think that it was exactly what I needed to hear in my life right now. I wish I could share all with you, but there simply aren't words and this isn't really the place. I haven't fully comprehended what God wants me to do with it now, but I definitely am pondering how this applies to my life and my friendships.

Happy weekend to all! I'm now on Spring Break! Castle Bluff, here we come!

Just A Little Pick Me Up!

I've been feeling a bit bogged down lately. School, youth, friends. Well, let's just say it's time for spring break! This weekend we are taking our youth on our annual retreat to the middle of no where and I am in charge of planning the weekend. So I was trying to get skits and games together when I stumbled upon this, which is by my very first youth pastor. It is quite funny because the Skit Guys always are, but the end really struck me and was a bit of an encouragement. I hope you enjoy!

Oh, and on a side note, I finally got my new camera after the theft incident! Needless to say, tons of photo opportunities in this beautiful weather are coming! (-:

Happy Spring Break! Please keep our trip in your prayers, I'd appreciate it. I can't wait to see what all God does this weekend!!

Day After Day

“Look at a day when you are supremely satisfied at the end. It's not a day when you lounge around doing  nothing; it's when you had everything to do, and you've done it.” –Margaret Thatcher

I found this quote somewhere the other day and felt that it adequately sums up my past few weeks.  It has been a wonderful few weeks, but it's also been crazy! I've never had so many tests and projects and quizzes and papers in such a short time. At least that what it seems like.  However, if I had to trade it with three weeks of doing nothing, I'd probably opt not to.  ...Ok, so I'd really just rather have a happy balance of both.
I think that Margaret Thatcher's quote is pretty true. It's a much better feeling to have accomplished everything and conquered the day while being busy instead of doing nothing. There will be those days that seem to conquer us, but hopefully we'll survive and continue with the next day.

Today's Verse: 2 Corinthians 12.9-10
"But He [Jesus] said to me [Paul], 'My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.' Therefore I will boast all the more gladly of my weakness so that the power of Christ may rest upon me. For the sake of Christ, then, I am confident with weaknesses insults, hardships, persecutions, and calamities. For when I am weak, then I am strong."

Oh, and here's the song of the day:

Happy weekend!!
